A Virtual Food Drive is Even More Filling

11.10.10 by Jim O'Gara

You’ve seen the stark billboards around town, “Job Search in March. Meal Search in June. Hungry Today.” Or the arresting, “Toys. Food. Pick One.” The North Texas Food Bank does a brilliant job of putting a face on hunger in North Texas. After all, there is no typical hunger stereotype. Your elderly neighbor, your co-worker, even your child’s best friend may benefit from the NTFB’s multitude of programs.

This year OnMessage invites you to join us in our annual  A JoyFULL Holiday virtual food drive for NTFB, raising much-needed funds to feed the 572,000 hungry people in our community. Simply by clicking here, you can donate securely through the NTFB’s donation page.

While you’re on NTFB.org, look at the many ways you can contribute through donations, charitable events, volunteer opportunities and more. How will you be inspired?

In addition to the virtual food drive, we’re holding our own internal can drive. Next week, as we give thanks for the year and share a potluck lunch, we’ll use more than 700 cans to build our holiday tree. It will stand in our lobby until the new year as a tangible reminder of the fight against hunger before the cans are sent to NTFB to provide roughly 2,500 meals.

This holiday season we hope you’ll join us in providing A JoyFULL Holiday for North Texans in need. Invite others to join as well. There are so many ways we can all contribute. How will you make a difference?
