What the Google is going on?

09.07.10 by Jim O'Gara

Between the buzz around what’s happening on Google’s home page to speculation over what they will announce at today’s press event it seems appropriate to take a peak at what the leading search engine has been up to lately.

Whether the flying balls on the home page have anything to do with Google’s 12th birthday or whether they are just an interesting way to showcase something “fast, fun and interactive”, Google has our attention. Not surprising, since they’ve spent the past dozen years redefining how both consumers and businesses use the Internet. Beyond the basic search functionality, Google services are firmly infused in how we behave online, and it looks like they will continue to change things.

Whether Google is battling it out with Bing or experimenting with things like Streaming Search the company seems bound and determined to evolve the experience of search. Will whatever they spring on us today do that or will this live event deflate? We’ll be Tweeting the latest information all day, so follow us at @onmessage for updates.
